Please read these terms carefully before using NextChapter. They set out your rights and responsibilities as a user of the Service.
By creating an account or purchasing a story on NextChapter ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users of NextChapter, including browsers, registered users, and paying customers. NextChapter reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
NextChapter is a serialised fiction platform that delivers story chapters to subscribers via email. Upon purchasing a story, you receive the right to read all chapters of that story, delivered to your registered email address on a daily schedule. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will endeavour to provide reasonable notice of material changes.
You must provide a valid email address to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are under 18, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or guardian. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that are used for fraudulent purposes.
Story purchases are one-time payments processed securely by Stripe. By completing a purchase you authorise the charge to your nominated payment method. All prices are listed in US dollars and are inclusive of any applicable taxes where required by law. NextChapter does not store your payment card details.
If chapter one of your purchased story has not yet been delivered, you may request a full refund by contacting support@nextchapter.email. Once delivery of any chapter has commenced, purchases are non-refundable. If you experience a technical fault that prevents delivery of chapters you have paid for, please contact us and we will work to resolve the issue or provide an appropriate remedy.
All content on NextChapter — including story adaptations, chapter text, editorial copy, design, and code — is the property of NextChapter or its content partners and is protected by applicable copyright law. Your purchase grants you a personal, non-transferable licence to read the story chapters delivered to your account. You may not reproduce, redistribute, resell, or publicly display any content from the Service without prior written permission. Stories on NextChapter are original adaptations of public domain source material. The adaptations themselves are original works and are not in the public domain.
You agree not to use the Service to: violate any applicable law or regulation; infringe the intellectual property rights of NextChapter or any third party; distribute spam or unsolicited communications; attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure; or engage in any conduct that disrupts or degrades the experience of other users.
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. NextChapter does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, NextChapter shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising under these terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to NextChapter in the twelve months preceding the claim.
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal.
