NextChapter is committed to handling your personal information with care and transparency. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
When you create an account we collect your email address and a password (stored as a secure hash — we never see it in plain text). When you make a purchase, payment is processed entirely by Stripe; NextChapter does not store your card number, expiry date, or CVV. We retain only a Stripe customer identifier and a record of the transaction. We also collect basic usage data — pages visited, links clicked, emails opened — to understand how the platform is used and to improve it. This data is aggregated and not linked to individual identities wherever possible.
Your email address is used to deliver story chapters, send account-related notices (purchase confirmations, password resets), and — with your consent — occasional product updates. We do not send marketing emails without your explicit opt-in. We use transaction records to manage your subscriptions and to process refund requests. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to any third party under any circumstances.
Chapter delivery is handled via Resend (resend.com), a transactional email provider. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for the purpose of delivering your story chapters. Resend is bound by a data processing agreement and may not use your data for any other purpose.
All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you purchase a story, you are entering a payment relationship directly with Stripe. NextChapter receives confirmation that a payment was successful but does not handle or store your financial credentials. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
We use a minimal set of cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to protect against cross-site request forgery. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Basic analytics (page views, session counts) may be collected via a privacy-respecting analytics tool that does not fingerprint individual users.
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain transaction records (typically seven years for financial records).
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccuracies, and to request deletion of your account and associated data. To exercise any of these rights, write to us at support@nextchapter.email. We will respond within 30 days. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the GDPR and UK GDPR respectively, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where the changes are material, notify you by email. Continued use of NextChapter after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
For any privacy-related questions or requests, please contact us at support@nextchapter.email.
