About This Story
Holmes is a freelance forensic consultant working out of a cluttered flat in Marylebone... brilliant, exacting, and eighteen months out of contact with the one person who makes the work liveable, Watson. James Watson is an A&E surgeon at a Whitechapel hospital, still carrying more mental baggage from his last army tour than he mentions to anyone. When a body lands in Watson's morgue bay with an injury pattern that doesn't fit the official account, they find themselves in the same room for the first time in a year and a half, and back inside a case before either of them has agreed to take it. The Whitechapel Files is a contemporary reimagining of the Sherlock Holmes stories, set in the London of data brokers and corporate impunity. Twelve chapters delivered daily to your inbox - crisp, noir-tinged, with moments of genuine warmth that the prose never quite admits to.
